BMD of Turkey, founded in September 2001, is a leading association in retail sector from ready-to-wear, shoes, communication, home appliances, cosmetic, accessories, home textile, home decoration, department store and furniture sectors.
415 brands are operating on 3.900.000 sq.m selling space on 70.000 selling points. Members of BMD are employing more than 375.000 people. The 2016 turnover of BMD member companies is 50 billion USD.
99 brands which are the members of BMD have 2.497 overseas stores in 110 countries and also other points of sale are 12.112. As a whole, it has 14.609 points of sale.
BMD established the strategy of “the transformation of Turkey into the brand’s economy”. It’s aim is to support Turkey to become one of the biggest 10 economies in the world. The target of BMD for Turkish brands is to have 20.000 stores in the world by 2023, the centenary of the Republic of Turkey.
BMD is a member of Washington-based National Retail Federation, Brussels-based Anti- Counterfeiting Committee, Foreign Economic Relations Board and TAMPF.
